Police Search For Teen Shot Friday Night

Wilmington Police are investigating the shooting of a teen late Friday.

A 17-year-old male fell victim to a shooting in the area of West 6th Street and Jefferson just after 9:00.

Following the shooting, the teen fled the scene, which prompted a search by arriving police officers.

As officers search the area the victim was located a block away from the scene of the original reported shooting scene.

The teen had sustained a bullet wound to his upper body according to initial reports. He was stabilized at the scene and transported to a trauma center by ambulance.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
