Georgetown Inmate Wanted For Escape

The Delaware Department of Correction has reported that Sylvester Deshields willfully walked away from the Sussex Community Corrections Center (SCCC) in Georgetown on June 26, 2024, after failing to return from an approved work pass. Deshields’ current whereabouts are unknown and unauthorized. A Warrant for Escape after Conviction has been issued.

Sylvester Deshields is described as a Black male, 5’09” in height, weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has identifiable scars on his right eyebrow, right finger, left knee, and nose, along with tattoos on his back, right forearm, and left forearm. His last known address is in Wilmington. He is currently serving a sentence for Violation of Probation related to an Assault 1st conviction officials said Thursday.

The SCCC is a Level 4 facility where offenders are managed as they transition back into the community. Unlike Level 5 prisons, these centers are not secured, allowing offenders to leave for work, job searches, or approved treatment sessions.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Deshields’ location to contact the Delaware Department of Correction at (800) 542-9524 or their local police department.
