Two Charged With July Shooting In Dover

The Dover Police Department has made arrests in a shooting that occurred in July.

Officials said the investigation began at 6:26 p.m., July 28, when Officers made contact with the victims, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both of Dover. The investigation showed that the victim’s were in a vehicle on South Kirkwood Street when they were approached by a black male, who shot the vehicle, then fled. No injuries were reported as a result of this shooting.

On Tuesday the Dover Police Department said they arrested Eugene Johnson, 18, and a 17-year-old male, both of Dover, for the shooting July 28th shooting. Through the investigation, Detectives identified Johnson and the 17-year-old male as the suspects responsible for the shooting and obtained warrants for them. On 08/12/2024 at 8:40 a.m., the 17-year-old was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Dover Police Department where he was arraigned. Johnson was being held at SCI on separate charges and was arraigned at the facility.

The 17-year-old was committed to Vision Quest on $5,500 secured bail on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2x)
-Reckless Endangering in the First Degree (2x)
-Conspiracy in the Second Degree
-Criminal Mischief Under $1,000

Johnson remains held at SCI on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2x)
-Reckless Endangering in the First Degree (2x)-
Conspiracy in the Second Degree
-Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
