Troopers Identify Pedestrian Killed In Bear Wednesday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last night in Bear that left one man dead.

Officials said on November 6, 2024, at approximately 8:48 p.m., a blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway, east of Wellington Drive in Bear. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking in the westbound lanes of Pulaski Highway, in the same area as the Chevrolet. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian entered the Chevrolet’s path of travel and was struck by the car according to police.

The pedestrian, 45-year-old  Jose Reyes-Medina, of Newark was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 22-year-old woman, and the 2-month-old passenger, both from Newark, were not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
