Reports: Man Struck Over A Dozen Times By Gunfire Late Monday

Wilmington Police are conducting an investigation following a shooting that occurred late Monday night in the 2600 block of North Madison Street in Wilmington. Officers responded to the scene at approximately 10:51 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the residential area near West 26th and West 27th Streets.

Upon arrival, police discovered a 23-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel treated the man at the scene and later transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Preliminary reports from the scene suggested that the man may have been shot over a dozen times, though law enforcement officials have yet to confirm the exact number of gunshots.

Initial reports indicated the area was littered with 5.56 shell casings. Authorities have not released further details regarding possible suspects or motives, and the investigation remains ongoing.
