Road Rage Incident Friday Ends In Gunfire

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting stemming from a road rage incident that occurred Friday night on Route 1 in Smyrna.

Officials said on March 14, 2025, at approximately 8:43 p.m., troopers responded to Route 1 southbound, in the area of Exit 119, for a report of a road rage shooting.

The preliminary investigation showed a black Infiniti sedan was involved in a road rage incident with a black pickup truck while driving on Route 1 southbound. During the incident, the suspect vehicle collided with the rear of the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect vehicle then drove parallel to the victim’s vehicle, and an unknown suspect discharged a firearm, which struck the victim’s vehicle police said. The Infiniti’s driver, a 27-year-old Delaware man, and 2 passengers were not injured. Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle did not stop and continued southbound on Route 1.

There is no additional suspect or suspect vehicle information available at this time.
