Happening Now: Major Crash Near Dover, Two Helos En Route

DOVER, Del. – Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious head-on collision reported just after 3:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Postles Corner Road and Bayside Drive, on the east side of Dover Air Force Base.

Initial reports from first-arriving units confirm that one of the vehicles overturned and struck a utility pole. Command at the scene has since ordered the roadway closed to all traffic as rescue operations continue.

Authorities have requested aviation support from Delaware State Police Trooper 4 and Trooper 2 to assist in patient transport. A total of four patients have been reported, though their conditions have not yet been released.

Update: 4:00 pm first patient off to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 2. Crews continue extrication efforts on second patient. Trooper 4 has landed and is waiting at the scene.

Update: 4:06 pm second patient freed from the vehicle. 4:26 pm Trooper 4 en route to Christiana Hospital.
