Police Identify Man Fatally Shot In Double Shooting

The Wilmington Police Department is continuing its investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, May 23, 2025, in the area of West 23rd and Washington Streets.

At approximately 7:44 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire and located two male gunshot victims at the scene. A 24-year-old male was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A second victim, a 25-year-old male, was also taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The deceased has been identified as Abu Thomas. Police have not released any information regarding suspects or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
