Man Charged In Milford Juneteenth Shooting

Milford Police have charged a Selbyville man in connection with a shooting that occurred during a Juneteenth celebration earlier this month. Public Information Officer Sergeant Timothy Maloney said that 23-year-old Jashaun Johnson was taken into custody on July 9, 2025, in Smyrna, Delaware.

According to Milford Police, the investigation determined that Johnson was the sole suspect involved in the shooting. On June 21, 2025, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Johnson related to the incident. On Wednesday, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, and the Smyrna Police Department, Johnson was apprehended without incident.

Johnson has been charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Criminal Mischief Over $1,000. He was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on $551,000 cash bail. A no-contact order was issued between Johnson and the victim.

Officials said Johnson will appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
