Man Facing Assault Charge In Shooting Of Young Woman

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a shooting that occurred on June 27, 2025, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities said at approximately 4:05 p.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 200 block of Stroud Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located a 23-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

According to Wilmington Police, the case was assigned to Detective John O’Connor of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of the investigation, Detective O’Connor identified Lamir Crews, 25, as a suspect. Police reported that Crews was taken into custody later that day without incident.

Officials charged Crews with Assault in the First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash-only bail.
