Police: Man Charged With Kidnapping, Strangulation

Smyrna Police Department (SPD) detectives have arrested Dallas Drummond, 45, of Dover in relation to an assault investigation.

Officials said on the morning of June 24, SPD officers were contacted by a female victim alleging to have been kidnapped and assaulted by Drummond. Authorities said the victim was able to fight off Drummond and escape from a residence after sustaining physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, SPD detectives secured an arrest warrant for Drummond stemming from this incident on June 24, 2025.

On July 1, 2025, SPD detectives, with the assistance of the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police, and Delaware Probation and Parole, were able to take Drummond into custody in the 5500 block of S. Dupont Highway in Dover.

Detectives charged Drummond with the following crimes, Kidnapping 1st degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Assault 2nd degree, and Strangulation.

He was arraigned via video court in JP #2, where he was committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $280,000 cash bail pending a future court hearing.
