On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 3000 block of Stone Place, located in the Village of Kent Apartment community, following reports of multiple gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered several vehicles and buildings that had been struck by gunfire, along with numerous shell casings on the ground. Officers obtained a vehicle description and part of the license plate number, which helped them identify the suspect vehicle as a black 2015 Dodge Charger. This information was immediately broadcast over our police radios, as well as the radio communications of surrounding departments, to alert officers to be on the lookout for the suspected Dodge Charger.
At approximately 7:32 p.m., a Delaware State Trooper spotted the black Dodge Charger and initiated a pursuit as the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed through the Newark area. The pursuit ultimately ended on South Chapel Street in Newark after the Charger collided into the rear end of a white 2019 Toyota Highlander.
As a result, the Highlander began rotating counterclockwise and was propelled into the northbound lane. The Highlander then exited the roadway, struck a mailbox and a curb, and then rolled over until it came to rest off the east side of S. Chapel Street. Meanwhile, the Charger continued southbound after colliding with the Highlander until it came to a stop in a field off the west side of S. Chapel Street. After the crash, all the occupants exited the Charger and ran away into a nearby farm field, where they were quickly apprehended by responding officers.
The driver of the Charger, identified as 18-year-old Michael Green, along with three passengers, 24-year-old Taheem Nicholas, a 17-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, all from Newark, Delaware, were not injured in the crash. The driver of the Highlander, an 18-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. The crash was investigated by the Delaware State Police.

Detectives later determined that two victims had traveled to the Stone Place address to purchase a gaming console when they were approached by two Suspects who displayed a firearm and committed a robbery.
