Milford Man Injured, Two Others Dead In Connected Shootings

Maryland authorities are investigating two connected shootings that occurred Sunday in Wicomico County, resulting in two deaths and one injury.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., troopers from the Salisbury Barrack responded to a residence on North Westover Drive for reports of a shooting. A man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds and transported to a nearby hospital. The woman was pronounced deceased, while the man remains hospitalized. On Monday, officials identified the woman as 44-year-old D’Hikiyah Sanika Jones and the man believed to be her son 23-year-old Ferguson Milford, Delaware.

Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Salisbury Police Department developed information identifying a suspect in the North Westover Drive shooting. Around 7:00 p.m., officers located the suspect outside a residence in the 700 block of Jefferson Street in Salisbury.

According to investigators, the man was standing near a vehicle with an object on the hood when officers confronted him. After repeated commands were given, the man reportedly reached for the object, prompting multiple officers to fire their weapons. He was struck and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A handgun was recovered near the scene. No officers were injured.

The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating the fatal officer-involved shooting, while the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the initial homicide on North Westover Drive. All involved officers were equipped with body-worn cameras, which recorded the incident. The Attorney General’s Office plans to release the name of the deceased man this week.
