Number Of Shooting Victims Rises To Five

WILMINGTON, Del. — Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting that left five people injured Friday night, just blocks from the city’s police headquarters.

The incident occurred around 10:06 p.m. in the 400 block of East 4th Street, near Lombard Street. Officers responding to the area found multiple gunshot victims suffering from injuries. The shooting took place within sight of the Wilmington Police Department headquarters, prompting a large police response as officers secured the scene and began rendering aid.

According to police, the victims include a 35-year-old female, a 28-year-old female, a 40-year-old male, a 56-year-old male, and a 60-year-old male. All five were transported to the hospital in stable condition. Early reports indicated that two of the male victims and one female sustained gunshot wounds to the lower extremities, another female was believed to beshot in the hand, and the fifth victim, the 60-year-old male, is believed to have sustained injuries to the upper part of an extremity.

Officers and detectives remained on the scene late into the night, collecting evidence and canvassing the area for witnesses.

This incident remains under investigation, and police have not released any information regarding a possible suspect or motive.
