Police said a 26-year-old Newark man was arrested after leading officers on a high-speed pursuit early Friday morning in New Castle County.
According to authorities, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on November 7, 2025, an officer with the New Castle County Division of Police was patrolling in the area of Meadowood Drive and Kirkwood Highway when he observed a black sedan speeding through the intersection.
Investigators said the officer activated his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as Julian Davis of Newark, failed to stop. Police alleged that Davis began recklessly passing vehicles in both directions while committing several additional traffic violations.
Authorities reported that Davis lost control of the car and struck a guardrail but regained control and continued toward Possum Park Road, traveling on the wrong side of the roadway at speeds well above the limit. Moments later, police said he crashed into a pole and trees. Officers took Davis into custody and noted signs of impairment at the scene.
Davis was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being released and taken to police headquarters.
According to police, Davis was charged with disregarding a police officer’s signal, aggressive driving, leaving the scene of a property collision accident, criminal mischief over $1,000, driving under the influence of alcohol, and several other traffic offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
