Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday evening in Camden-Wyoming.
On December 20, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on Westville Road between Allabands Mill Road and Mallard Drive, approaching a slight curve in the roadway. At the same time, a RAM 2500, towing an enclosed utility trailer was traveling eastbound on Westville Road, with a Chevrolet Suburban traveling directly behind it.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the Chevrolet Suburban attempted to pass the RAM in a no-passing zone and sideswiped the driver’s side of the Ford Fusion. As the Suburban returned to the eastbound lane, its passenger side struck the front driver’s side of the RAM. As a result, the Suburban exited the south edge of the roadway, re-entered Westville Road, and then exited the north edge of the roadway, where it struck a tree and caught fire.
The driver of the Suburban, 84-year-old Joseph Mogle, of Camden-Wyoming, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the RAM, a 31-year-old man from Dover, and the driver of the Fusion, a 37-year-old man from Hartly, were not injured during the crash.
Westville Road was closed for approximately 5 hours while members of the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.
