The Delaware State Police is investigating a home invasion that occurred Friday morning at a residence in the 24000 block of Lawson Road near Georgetown.
According to investigators, troopers were dispatched to the home at approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 15, 2026, after a home security company reported a panic alarm activation at the residence.
When troopers arrived, they learned an 83-year-old woman activated the alarm after an unknown man allegedly forced his way into the home as she answered the front door. Police said the suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded to see another unknown person he believed was inside the residence.
Investigators said the woman was able to escape the suspect and lock herself inside a bedroom, where she activated the panic alarm while the intruder searched through the home.
The suspect later fled the residence in an unknown direction before troopers arrived. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, possibly operating a black pickup truck.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit.
