A 21-year-old man died after being shot Saturday afternoon in the Woodstream Garden Apartments community in Claymont.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded at approximately 4:17 p.m. on June 6 to the 900 block of Peachtree Road for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers located 21-year-old Amir Reynolds in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. Police said officers immediately began providing life-saving measures until Emergency Medical Services arrived.
Reynolds was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite those efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The shooting remains under investigation by the New Castle County Division of Police. Authorities have not released information regarding a suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
