Alexandra, Virginia – At around 7:15 this morning members of congress practicing for a bipartisan charity baseball game came under fire from a man with a rifle, according to reports.

Reports indicate that House Majority WHIP Louisiana Representative Steve Scalise was shot in the hip and was pinned down.

Representative Roger Williams of Texas was not shot but was badly injured when he dove into the dugout for cover. A member of his staff was reportedly shot.

Representative Steve Scalise’s security detail engaged the shooter and were reportedly shot as well. Alexandria police arrived on scene within 3 minutes taking the suspect into custody.

Congressman Ron Desantis, who was leaving the practice early, said that before the shooting began he was approached by a man asking which party the players belonged to.

Former presidential candidate Rand Paul said he was hiding behind a large oak tree and that there was 50 or 60 shots.

Witness said that the man shot for 10 minutes, approximately 50 rounds.
