County Police Update Monday Morning School Bus Crash

Today, Aug 26, 2019, at approximately 8:45 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection of Clayton Street and St Elizabeth Street in the community of Cleland Heights for the report of a school bus accident.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a Sutton School Bus was traveling on Clayton Avenue and neglected to stop at a stop sign on St Elizabeth Street. The bus then collided a blue 2012 Chevy Cruz. The bus was on its way to Richardson Park Elementary School.

Five of the seventeen students, that were on the bus, sought medical attention from a local area hospital. All five were treated for minor injuries and released. The parents of all the students involved have been contacted.

The 90-year-old driver of the Chevy Cruz did not complain of any injuries and was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene.

The 67-year-old driver of the school bus was also uninjured and was able to leave the scene after being issued a traffic citation for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.
