Happening Now: Major Bridge Closed In Region Due To Head-On Collision

Chesapeake City, Md. – At around 7:18 Friday morning rescue crews from Cecil County along with Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 were dispatched to the Chesapeake City Bridge for reports of an injury accident.

Arriving crews reported two vehicles involved in a head-on collision and immediately requested a rescue squad and paramedics.

After evaluating the patients Command requested two helicopters to respond and set up a landing zone near the local firehouse.

Shortly after the call for helicopters, Command advised that the Priority 1 (Critical) patient would be going by ground to Christiana Hospital’s Emergency Room (CER).

Trooper 4 did respond to the crash and transported the second patient to CER.

Crews have reported that the bridge will be closed for an extended period of time to allow Troopers to conduct an accident reconstruction investigation.

Cecil County School Buses were rerouted around the accident.

The closure is expected to push traffic into Delaware.
