Three Treated After House Fire In Wilmington’s Hillcrest Neighborhood

At approximately 1:37 on Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2020, New Castle County Paramedics and emergency crews from surrounding fire companies responded for reports of a house fire, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal Ruoy Koontz.

Koontz said the incident occurred on Beverly Road in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Brandywine Hundred, Delaware. During operations, a total of three patients were identified, one requiring advanced life support care and transport to a local emergency room.

Patient one, a 56 year-old-male and occupant of the home, was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene but declined transport to the hospital. Patient two, a 69-year-old-male bystander, suffered a heat-related illness. The patient was treated on the scene and later transported to Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room. The patient was in stable condition during transport via Talleyville Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. Patient three, a firefighter operating on the fire grounds, declined transport to the emergency room. Further inquiries regarding the firefighter can be directed to the Brandywine Hundred Volunteer Fire Company.

The incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshalls Office.
