Happening Now: Crews Working Wilmington House Fire With One Trapped

Just before 10:00 this morning, firefighters from the Wilmington Fire Department responded to a two-story middle of the row townhome in the 500 block of Springer Street for reports of a house fire with entrapment.

While en routes learned that the patient was reported to be trapped on the second floor.

Upon arrival, crews reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the home. As crews began their attack on the fire they simultaneously began a search of the home. Shortly after entry crews reported that the search of the back bedrooms met with negative results.

As crews battled the fire and advanced towards the front of the home they reported finding the patient. The patient was removed from the home and turned over to the medics on scene.

Initial radio reports indicate that one patient has been transported to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation injuries.

At 10:19 Command reported that the fire was under control.
