21 Year Old Magnolia Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

Magnolia, DE – Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning west of Magnolia.

The incident occurred sometime between midnight and 7:40 a.m. Thursday July 21, 2016, as Nathaniel P. Benton, 21 of Magnolia, was operating a 2006 Yamaha R6 motorcycle southbound on Peachtree Run Road approaching Irish Hill Road. Benton failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection and continued straight across Irish Hill Road and into a soybean field where he was ejected from the motorcycle.

A concerned friend located the crash scene this morning after Benton failed to return home.

Nathaniel Benton, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Alcohol may have been a factor in this case.  Irish Hill Road at Peachtree Run Road was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
