Route 1 SB and all but one lane of the NB lanes of Route 1 are currently closed due to an accident that occurred at around 11:30 Saturday morning.
FSU is told that a Harrington Fire Company apparatus, returning south from this morning’s parade in Wilmington, blew a tire and crossed over into the NB lanes of Route 1.
Photos from the scene show damage to the front of the apparatus and significant damage to the safety cable barrier system. There are no injury reports at this time and it is believed that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Route 1 is closed between the C & D Canal and Route 72.
