The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that damaged a hotel located in Seaford on Wednesday, according to Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal John Galaska.
Galaska said the incident, reported shortly before 8:30 P.M. , occurred in the 24000 block of Sussex Highway Seaford, Delaware at the Motel 6. The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene and found smoke coming from a hotel room.
The fire located in the room had been controlled by the building’s automatic fire sprinkler system and extinguishment was completed by fire department personnel. The building was occupied at the time of the fire and all occupants escaped without injury. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.
State fire investigators were called to the scene and performed an investigation to determine the origin and cause. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature and was caused by the failure of a charging electrical appliance said Galaska. There were no reported injuries to persons or firefighters. Damage is estimated at $500.00.
