Just after 12:10, Friday afternoon rescue from the Carlisle Fire Company of Milford, Houston, Ellendale, and Harrington Fire Companies along with medics and Trooper 2 responded to Route 1 in the area of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that a single vehicle crashed into an overpass. Rescue crews were able to free the patient after about 15 minutes. The patient was loaded onto Trooper and is en route to the CER Trauma Center.
Route 1 in the area of the crash was closed during the rescue and the helicopter landing. It’s not clear if the road has reopened.
