Trooper Reportedly Injured In Head-On Collision Thursday Morning

On Thursday morning, shortly after 12:20, a crash occurred at the intersection of South Dupont Blvd and Holly Hill Drive in Smyrna.

This incident required a response from various rescue teams. Among them were the Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna, Kent County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4.

While en route to the scene, rescue crews were informed that the crash had resulted in a trapped driver due to a head-on collision. That patient later self-extricated and was transported by ambulance to Kent General Hospital.

A second patient was airlifted to the trauma center in New Castle County via Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that a Trooper was struck head-on by another vehicle at that location.

The southbound lanes of Route 13 were closed to allow for the emergency response and investigation. The closure lasted several hours, with normal traffic flow resuming just after 3:00 AM on Thursday morning.

This is a developing story.
