Police Investigating Saturday Morning Violence

Wilmington Police are currently conducting investigations into a series of incidents that unfolded early Saturday morning.

The series of events began when officers were dispatched to St. Francis Hospital around 2:05 a.m., following reports of a shooting incident.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found a 16-year-old male with gunshot wounds. The teen, who had been arrived at the hospital, was reported to be in stable condition. In an effort to locate the scene of the shooting, officers conducted a search in the vicinity of Columbia and Maryland Avenue, although the exact location of the incident remains unclear.

The incidents did not stop there. Less than 45 minutes later, at around 2:48 a.m., officers received calls concerning gunfire in the 1900 block of Prospect Road. Authorities were dispatched to investigate the reports of shots fired but it’s not clear if a scene was located.

The string of events continued into the early morning. Just after 3:15 a.m., Wilmington Police responded to another call, this time at Wilmington Hospital. Reports indicated that an individual had been assaulted with a firearm. Details surrounding the assault, including the condition of the victim and the circumstances leading up to the incident, have yet to be disclosed.
