Two Die In Bridgeville House Fire Saturday

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is currently investigating a fatal fire that was reported on June 1, 2024, at approximately 1:30 AM in the 16000 block of Atlanta Road in Bridgeville.

Responding units from the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid fire companies, arrived on the scene to find a single-family dwelling heavily engulfed in flames. The firefighting efforts continued until the fire was brought under control at 4:12 AM. Unfortunately, two individuals who were inside the dwelling at the time of the fire were unable to escape and succumbed to their injuries. The victims have been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and determination of the cause of death.

Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshals, as part of the Major Incident Response Team, responded to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. No other injuries have been reported. The estimated damage caused by the fire is approximately $500,000.
