Acquaintance Charged In Elkton Fatal Shooting

Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Cecil County that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man.

Officials said shortly before 9:30 Monday evening, troopers from the North East Barrack along with deputies with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the unit block of Locust Point Road in Elkton for reports of a shooting. 

Authorities said the 9-1-1 call came from the suspect involved in the incident.  The suspect, who authorities have not identified, and a firearm were taken into police custody on scene. Investigators said they believe the two individuals were acquainted. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that Christopher Cimorose, 56, of Elkton, lying in the driveway of the home and was suffering from multiple gunshots. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency medical service personnel.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
