Man Airlifted In Critical Condition After Summit Bridge Road Crash


At approximately 7:34 p.m. New Castle County Paramedics, the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, and the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company were dispatched to Summit Bridge Road in the area of Brennan Boulevard for reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

Fire department units arrived on scene to find a two-car collision, between an SUV and a heavy-duty truck. Three patients were assessed or transported as follows:

An approximately 46-year-old male in critical condition, with extremity injuries, head and neck injuries, and possible internal injuries. He was transported by New Castle County Paramedics on board Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4.

An approximately 54-year-old male in stable condition with back injuries, transported by Volunteer Hose
Company ambulance.

An approximately 25-year-old male who declined transport.
