While en route, responders were informed that occupants of the vehicles involved might be trapped. Upon arrival, crews found a woman in her 20s trapped in her vehicle and a 17-year-old male driver who had self-extricated from his vehicle.

At 4:48 p.m., incident command confirmed that the female driver had been successfully extricated from her vehicle. Both patients were transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The extent of their injuries remains undetermined.

The crash caused significant delays on Old Baltimore Pike as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision and crews cleared the scene. Evening commuters experienced heavy traffic in the area.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
