A serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Long Neck Road in Millsboro.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at approximately 7:55. for the reported crash, which involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
The collision involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a dark gray Ford pickup truck. The impact caused the motorcycle to slide into a nearby light pole, resulting in significant injuries to the rider, a male in his 60s. Emergency crews stabilized the patient before he was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center in serious condition.
Additional responding agencies included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, Trooper 2. The Delaware State Fire Police also assisted at the scene.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
