NEW CASTLE, Del. — The New Castle County Division of Police is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in the Rose Hill Gardens neighborhood.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Ryan Avenue for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement issued Thursday night, police announced that an active investigation was underway and advised the public to expect road closures and an increased law enforcement presence in the area. Residents were urged to avoid the vicinity and seek alternate routes.
The New Castle County Division of Police has indicated that additional updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
