On Thursday, June 5, 2025, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 100 block of Ryan Avenue in the Rose Hill Gardens neighborhood for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, Officers located 19-year-old Tahjir Pipkin of New Castle suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel immediately rendered aid, and he was transported to Christiana Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, Pipkin was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit were immediately notified, responded to the scene, and took over the investigation.
Detectives are aware that a gathering was taking place in the parking lot of Rosehill Park at the time of the shooting, with numerous people in attendance.
