Two Weeks Of Repairs To Summit Bridge Announced

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced lane closures will be enacted along Summit Bridge in New Castle County, DE. Lane closures will begin on or about July 28, 2025, and last approximately two weeks while bridge repairs are taking place. 

USACE’s contractor is conducting painting and steel repairs to bridge structure. The purpose of the repair work is to improve the overall condition and safety of the bridge.

The Summit Bridge is a cantilever truss bridge that carries four lanes of Delaware Route 896 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal.

Lane closures will be in effect on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check back with First State Update for daily closure information.
