Search Underway For Missing Person In The Water Near Milton

Milton, DE – Emergency crews launched a large-scale water rescue operation Tuesday afternoon in Sussex County after reports that an 18-year-old male went under the water and failed to resurface near Oyster Rocks Road.

The incident was reported at approximately 3:43 p.m. in the waterway between Milton and Slaughter Beach near Oyster Rocks Road. Multiple agencies responded, including units from Lewes, Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), and the United States Coast Guard.

Dive and marine units from surrounding companies were dispatched to assist with search and rescue efforts. The Coast Guard deployed aviation resources to the area just before 5:00 to assist in the aerial search.

As of 5:45, the search continued. No additional information has been released.
