Pedestrian Killed Along Maryland Avenue Wednesday

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a dump truck along Maryland Avenue in Wilmington.

The accident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. near Brookside Drive. Preliminary information indicates a male pedestrian, believed to be in his 30s, was struck by the truck. Rescue crews from the Five Points Fire Company along New Castle County Paramedics arrive to find the man down in the roadway.

Live saving measures were performed however the man died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and assumed the investigation into the fatal crash. Maryland Avenue was closed for approximately two and a half hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

No additional information about the victim or the circumstances leading up to the collision has been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
