Two Dead In Fiery Crash, Another In Critical Condition

File

Two people were killed and another person was critically injured in a fiery two-vehicle crash Friday night on Milford Harrington Highway west of Milford, according to the Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on June 26. Investigators said a Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on Milford Harrington Highway at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection with Church Hill Road. At the same time, a Nissan Rogue had just turned right from Church Hill Road onto westbound Milford Harrington Highway.

According to the preliminary investigation, the front of the Mustang struck the rear of the Nissan for reasons that remain under investigation. The impact caused the Nissan to rotate, overturn into a utility pole, and become engulfed in flames.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released their identities pending notification of their families.

The driver of the Mustang, a 36-year-old Harrington man, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Milford Harrington Highway was closed for approximately four hours while members of the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is encouraged to contact the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
