Newark 7-11 Robbed At Gunpoint

NewarkDelaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Newark area 7-11 store that occurred last evening.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at approximately 6:25 p.m., as a male suspect entered the 7-11 located at 699 East Chestnut Hill Road, Newark. The suspect approached the sales counter armed with an unknown handgun and confronted a male clerk. He then demanded money from the cash registers. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him. The suspect then exited the store and fled east of the Augusta Shopping Center. As a customer approached the 7-11 store he chased after the suspect on foot and stopped when the suspect turned and pointed the gun in his direction. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a white male. Approximately 6’00”-6’02” tall, weighed 220-230 lbs., with his face covered. There is no further physical or clothing description available.
