Now You Can Help Police With Unsolved Cases

New Castle County Police on Monday announced the launch of a new webpage to help the public connect directly with the Cold Case Homicide Squad.

The webpage, designed through the division’s Criminal Investigations Unit, will let the public see pictures and review facts about unsolved slayings under active investigation by the Cold Case Homicide Squad. The site also will provide the public direct access to cold case detectives and Delaware Crime Stoppers.

Cases will be added to the page for public review – and tips to help solve the crimes — by the Criminal Investigations Unit after review by victims’ families.
“This is an innovative step for cold case homicide investigations in Delaware,” said Col. E.M. Setting, chief of police.

“Our relentless resolve in bringing justice for the victims and closure to their families is strengthened by County Executive Thomas P. Gordon and County Council’s offered reward up to $20,000 for information about violent crimes,” Setting said. “This webpage empowers the public as community stakeholders to help bring those responsible for these heinous crimes to justice.”
Gordon also offered his support for the new effort.

“Today’s launch of the Cold Case Webpage is an excellent step by our county police to help develop community help in solving killings that have left too many families without answers about the loss of their loved ones,” Gordon said Monday.

“Someone out there knows what happened or has heard something that can help our investigators bring closure to these grieving families, who also are victims of the killers that need to be brought to justice,” Gordon said in a statement. “We fully support the efforts of our Cold Case Homicide Squad and hope anyone with information will step forward and do the right thing.”
The Cold Case Homicide Squad, created two years ago, continues investigations through reviewing evidence, re-interviewing witnesses and conducting new interviews.
New Castle County government, in conjunction with Delaware Crime Stoppers, offers rewards of up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and/or conviction in any violent crime.
The new webpage to be maintained by the squad — dedicated to delivering justice for victims and closure to their families – may be viewed atwww.nccde.org/957/Cold-Case.
Detectives believe tips could give vital information to help solve the cases posted on the new webpage.
