Update: Officer and Prisoner Run Off The Road – Injuries

 

Minquadale –  New Castle County Police Traffic Services Unit is currently on scene investigating a crash involving a New Castle County Police vehicle at Route 13 northbound in the area of the 295 overpass.

Today (July 29) at approximately 3:15p.m., an on-duty New Castle County police officer was transporting a prisoner on Route 13 northbound when the police car, an unmarked Ford Taurus, was struck by a Mack dump truck.

The police vehicle was severely damaged and both the officer and prisoner were transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Both are currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Services Unit detectives have responded to the scene and are currently conducting an investigation.

Route 13 has been reopened as of 6:00p.m.

Further information pertaining to this investigation will be released at the conclusion of the investigation, police said.
