Harrington – Delaware State Police Collision is investigating a serious two vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon west of Harrington.
Troopers said that the incident occurred around 4:35 p.m. as Adam L. Fox, 53 of Frederica, was operating a 2014 Volkswagen Passat southbound on Fox Hunters Road and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Whiteleysburg Road.
Brian J. Ennis, 23 of Lincoln, who was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on Whiteleysburg Road approached the intersection with Fox Hunters Road when the Passat pulled into the intersection, police said.
Authorities said the the Tahoe struck the front end of the Passat and began to rotate in a counter-clockwise manner before traveling off the south side of the road where the rear of the Tahoe struck a utility pole. The SUV then overturned, ejecting Ennis from the vehicle, police said. The Passat rotated in a counter-clockwise manner and came to a stop in the roadway.
Brian Ennis, who Trooper said was not wearing his seal belt, was removed from the scene by Delaware State Police Aviation and transported to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.
Adam Fox was properly restrained and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated on the scene by EMS.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. No charges have been filed at this time. Whiteleysburg Road at Fox Hunters Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
