New Castle – County Police said that on Tuesday detectives were investigating three burglaries in the community of Sophia’s Place East apartments that occurred during the overnight hours between Monday and Tuesday. As part of investigative practices, detectives made patrol officers aware of the burglaries and the stolen property.
Later in the day, patrol officers responded to the area of Holden Drive in the community of Rambleton Acres in reference to a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers contacted one of the passengers, David Henry. During the crash investigation, officers discovered property that they knew to be stolen from the Sophia’s Place East burglaries and contacted detective, police said.
Detectives responded to the crash scene to continue their investigation and were ultimately able to arrest David Henry, 19, for the burglaries.
David Henry was charged with two counts of burglary in the second degree, two counts of attempted burglary in the second degree, felony theft, misdemeanor theft and two counts of criminal mischief, according to police. He was arraigned on the charges and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $26,500 cash-only bail an was issued a no contact order with the burglary victims, police said.
