Loud Teens Arrested On Felony Drug Charges

Rehoboth Police said that Zachary D. Clayton, 18, of Rehoboth Beach and a 16 male from Georgetown were arrested on felony drug possession charges Sunday night. The pair were contacted by police officers in the second block of Rehoboth Avenue for yelling profanity in public, according to police.

Officials say that at around 11:50 p.m., officers approached a vehicle occupied by Clayton and the 16 year old after observing them exit a nearby building yelling profanity in the presence of other members of the public. The officers approached the vehicle to warn the two about their behavior, when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a total of 92 grams of marijuana in addition to scales and additional bags for packaging, police said.

Both Clayton and the 16 year old were arrested and charged with 1 count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and 1 count of second degree conspiracy. Both charges are felonies.

Clayton was released on $15,000 unsecured bail and the 16 year old was released on his own recognizance to a guardian.
