Eian T. Stradley, 32, of Millsboro, was arrested and charged with theft after police say he stole money from two victim’s purses while they were inside the South Beach Arcade this week in Rehoboth Beach.
On Monday July, 25 at around 3:45pm, Rehoboth Beach Police received a report of a stolen wallet taken while the victim was inside the South Beach Arcade located on the Boardwalk in the area of Delaware Avenue. Officers contacted employees of the arcade and obtained surveillance video of the theft which showed a white male, later identified as Stradley, remove the victim’s wallet from her purse while she was inside a photo booth in the arcade, police said. The wallet contained identification and credit cards, as well as, an undisclosed amount cash money.
On Wednesday July, 27 at around 4:40pm, Rehoboth Beach Police received a report of theft of money from a purse also taken while the victim was inside the South Beach Arcade. Officers once again worked with employees of the arcade to obtain surveillance images of the suspect who officers recognized from the previous theft on Monday, police said. Authorities said that officers began searching the area for the suspect and, with the assistance of the Dewey Beach Police Department, were able to locate Stradley in the Royal Farms on Rehoboth Avenue.
Stradley was arrested and charged with 1 count of theft under $1500.00 and 1 count of theft of lost or mislaid property under $1500.00. Both charges are class A misdemeanors, according to police. Police said that the money stolen in these cases totaled less than $500.00. Stradley was released on $1000.00 unsecured bail.
