ClaytonDelaware State Police said that on Saturday at around 9:45 p.m., Robert Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was riding his motorcycle on Blackiston Road behind  a Jeep Liberty operated by Joy L. Taylor of Maryland. Authorities said Kimble attempted to pass the Jeep Liberty on a double yellow line and struck left rear fender of the Jeep Liberty.

Troopers aid that the impact sent the Jeep spinning out of control and into a grass field. Kimble was ejected from the motorcycle as it went down on its left side. The motorcycle slid into the southbound lane where it stopped north of the collision.

Robert A. Kimble, 53 of Maryland, was wearing a helmet. He was treated by paramedics and then was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center with life threatening injuries. Alcohol and speed are factors on the part of Robert A. Kimble, police said

Joy L. Taylor, 42 of Maryland, and her three passengers were all wearing seatbelts and were uninjured in the collision.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Blackiston Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
