Police: 16 Year Old With Gun Leads Police On Chase

Wilmington – Wilmington Police said that at around 3 p.m. on Friday officers responded to the area of the 1000 block of Clifford Brown Walk in reference to a man with a gun complaint. Arriving officers observed a subject, later identified as a 16 year old juvenile male of Wilmington, walking in the area matching the broadcast description and displaying the characteristics of an armed gunman, police said.

Officers exited their marked police vehicle and attempted to make contact with the juvenile, according to authorities The juvenile immediately fled on foot, holding his waistband area, officials, said. After a lengthy foot pursuit, officers were able to place the juvenile male into custody without incident and recover a loaded .22 caliber revolver handgun, police said

The juvenile defendant was transported to police headquarters and booked on the charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest. The defendant was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 Secured Bail.
