Police Locate Fugitive and Drugs

 

New Castle – On Friday July, 29, 2016 at approximately 11:30 p.m., New Castle County Police Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) officers along with Wilmington Police Department’s Safe Streets detectives developed information that a fugitive, Edward Rigdon, was staying in the Super 8 Motel in the 200 block of S. DuPont Highway, according to police.

Officers and detectives knocked on the door of Edward Rigdon’s motel room. When the door was opened for them, police immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the room,,police said. Police located Edward Rigond in the room and arrested him. Police also said that Edward Rigdon provided police with a fictitious name using a forged Delaware Identification card.

Police obtained a search warrant for the motel room. Upon service of the search warrant, officers found approximately 475 grams of marijuana and $6,400, according to arresting officers.

Edward Rigdon was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, forgery in the first degree, felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor criminal impersonation. He was arraigned on the charges and capiases and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $17,000 cash-only-bail.
